These are some ideas to help inspire you! The Sun at the top is made with construction and tape.
The suns beneath are plywood and paint.
The windows are painted with acrylic paint on the outside of the window.

You could use construction paper, newspaper, lined paper, cardboard,  tape...the sky is the limit!
Remember to ask your caregiver about the best ways to display your project.

LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE & SHARE YOUR POSITIVITY!

Good Afternoon!

Artists often practice their observational skills by drawing what is called a 'still life'. A still life is an arrangement of objects that don't move. Usually vases, flowers, bowls of fruit. It can be anything! Practicing looking at objects by either drawing or painting them help you to strengthen your observational skills. Just like anything you want to be good at, practice is key!

I was recently drawn to this arrangement in the middle of the kitchen island. It took me all day and many hours. I used watercolor and paper. You can use whatever you have on hand.

Give a still life a try!
Set up 2-3 objects together. Draw what you see. Look at the overall shape of your objects. Is it a circle, square, rectangle, half-circle...? Do the objects overlap? Look at the basic shape and use lines to create that shape.

To simplify the above still life, see below.

Try your best. Keep it simple! Set up something you feel would be FUN to draw and share it!

Hi All,

This week I was inspired to create ABSTRACT ART!

Abstract art does not represent images of our everyday world. It has color, line, and shape. It is about creating what you feel about what you see, think or imagine. It is not copying or creating an object that we all recognize.

It is very freeing to just start letting your art tool (pencil, paintbrush, crayon, marker, etc.) guide your hand. Just let the art flow out of you! Use whatever materials you have on hand.

I am not finished but here is my work in progress:

What do you think about them? How do they make you feel?

Remember our Kandinsky dots? He was an abstract painter. You were too! Give it a try and share your creations here or e-mail me: tlibby@rivendellschool.org.

REMEMBER to HAVE FUN!

hello Students, I hope you are getting into a nice routine and finding time to be creative. Your efforts towards creating will be a good outlet and a way to express yourself! I have found it very helpful to create things that make me happy and creating those happy things to share with others to help spread happiness. In the last couple of days, I have spent at an elderly facility in my town, outside, painting on the windows. The residents there were filled with tears of joy and exclamations of gratitude and excitement! There is nothing better than sharing your art with the world. I challenge you this week to create sunshine, flowers, rainbows, anything that makes you happy and display it in your window at home or somewhere that can be seen by others to enjoy. It can be something you drew, painted, created with collage or built a sculpture of. Please feel free to take a picture and email it to me, or post it here to share. tlibby@rivendellschool.org
